Got notified through Facebook that this company had a job opening, They were supposed to send me w2’s, I-9’s and other new hire forms and send them back. They said they were going to transfer the money into my bank account for me to go get the equipment. They keep texting to try to get person information like my password and account numbers

I was contacted by supposed company recruiter on Facebook after I had showed interest in a job posting of hers for a remote/ work from home data entry or payroll officer position. She told me the details of the position and pay. She then forwarded my number to Human Resources of their “company” AlphaSights who texted/messaged me through the Viber app. Their number is 330-256-1913.

I was interviewed for the data entry position through this app and was told I got the job. I provided my name, address, email, and phone number. I then received an offer letter from Kimberly Bable (a supposed supervisor for company) email: [email protected] That I signed and sent back, I was told I would get I-9 and other official paperwork via mail or email the following week as it was late Friday afternoon. However for the position they needed me or their company certified vendors to get to get a new MacBook Pro, iPhone 11, scanner, printer, fax machine, laminater and Mac desktop computer, which would need to have multiple softwares put on the computer for my job by the vendors and the company logo. So to make the process faster and be able to have me start the job sooner they were going to send me checks to send money via Venmo, PayPal, zelle or cash app and gift cards to send to these vendors to purchase the equipment and software. They also ended up having me purchase 3 MacBooks from Best Buy the next day to ship to the vendor because they reported the Best Buy’s and Apple stores were closed or sold out due to COVID-19 pandemic. I then had to ship them overnight shipping with FedEx to this person/business for software installation: Royal Consult, Olatunji Salami. I was also directed to purchase many gift cards (told they were for equipment and software) from target and Walmart. I have emailed the real AlphaSights administrators and they claim these are not their employees or recruiters. I was unaware that once checks posted and funds are available that they can’t weeks later bounce or be counterfeit. USAA my bank is holding me liable for the 20,000 fraud/scam.
