American police officers alliance

Paul – Nov 15, 2020

My experience is very similar to Private1595353854 listed above. They called me and asked for a $50 donation. I told them I didn’t want to contribute that much, so he asked if I would contribute $15. I told him to send me something in the mail and I would consider a contribution. He then transferred me to someone else who asked for a credit card. I told her that I had not agreed to contribute, and to send me something. I did receive something in the mail that stated I had committed to the $15 gift. However, I had told them I would consider giving them the money. However, after researching them online, I do not believe they use the money for much more than lining their own pockets.

I received numerous calls from the same telephone# and I got tired of them calling. My answering machine tells them to remove us from their calling list if they are asking for a donation. I answered it, my mistake! He asked for a donation of $15.00. Told them to send info. Would not take no for an answer so I said o.k. The first call was from an area code 229 in Georgia. Then I shortly got another call from the same person from an area code 912 in Georgia. I very shortly told the same person who called me the first time, to remove me from their calling list. He kept talking until he told me O.K. He transferred me to someone else and they wanted my credit card or debit card. Asked for my name and address but he told me that they would verify my name. Told her I only do checks. I questioned this organization was scamming me. When I received the donation letter, I noticed it was coming from Wauwatosa, WI. It wasn’t even from Georgia. Upon checking out this organization on line, I decided not to send my donation. The letter sent said I promised a gift, I did not.

I was contacted by phone on Feb 25, 2020 from a person from the American Police Officers Alliance and asked for a donation of several choices such as $35.00 which is the lowest amount mentioned. I agreed to donate $35.00, and was immediately transferred to another person who asked for my credit card information. I told her that I would not provide credit card info over the phone, and asked to be sent a donation form in the mail and info on their charity. I have searched for the American Police Officers Alliance on several charity rating websites, and it is not listed. The call came from fund raisers, and they are not a Police Officers organization. I have received their donation packet, but will not make the donation. My phone is registered on the National Do Not Call Registry.

They called me asking for a large amount of money for a donation. I told them I could only do a small amount. The lady asked for a credit/ debit card. She sent me an envelope with a return envelope for my donation. Don’t think this is legit. Have never heard of this company before.

A very convincing bot called my cell phone and kept asking for a donation. When I asked about donating in person instead of over the phone I was transferred to a person with a very fuzzy sounding voice. I couldn’t understand her name and her answers were very abrupt and ambiguous. She told me that they’ll send me a receipt in the mail with a return address that I could mail my donation to. She was trying her best to get my name and address and get off of the phone as soon as possible. The only other option was to donate on their website. It felt very odd so I refused to give any information.

I got a phone call asking for money for the American Police Officers Alliance. I agreed to give $20 if they checked out. They have every indication of being a scam.

This man called soliciting for Police Officers. He told my husband that it was tax deductible. Was transferred for someone to collect information. Would not give c.c. info or social security. They sent us a bill that said it is not tax deductible. We did not send them any money for that reason and I think it was probably a scam.

Called by "John" and asked to pledge $35, $50 or $100. I choose $35 and was asked twice if I was comfortable with that amount. I was asked for credit card or debit card and I chose to defer to pay by check. They took my name and address and assured me I would receive a thank you letter and return envelop with my pledge form. It seemed as though I was speaking to a prerecorded message initially and then transferred to a person who took my info.

01-02-2018 @ 7:30 PM EST: I received a phone call from a # I did not recognize. The only reason I answered it (I usually reject immediately & block any # I do not recognize) was because I was expecting to hear from an acquaintance whose # had changed. A man, who called himself "John", was loud, fast-talking, and just a little too "friendly". That was his "first strike". He said he was calling on behalf of the American Police Officers Alliance. That was his "second strike". I’ve been around long enough to know that all this sounded way too fishy. I cut him off before he could even get to his "third strike". I told him "you’re running a scam. Don’t call this # again." and I hung up. Unfortunately, I forgot to add the # to my "Blocked" list before I deleted it.
