Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
My husband received a check from Anthem Health Plans of KY on Mar. 1, 2018 for a refund of a premium paid for close to $800. It had his name, address, and the last 4 digits of his social security number on it, as well as what is supposed to be the last 4 digits of his Anthem Plan ID member number. The problem is he is not, nor has he ever been a subscriber of Anthem. We immediately suspected it was Fake, but had our bank check the routing number, person’s name who had issued the check, bank address, Anthem address, and the bank checking account number. The banker had no luck in pursuing all of these people/places. Of course, info said to call the number on the back of your member ID card if you had any questions. Since he is not a member, we had no number to call, but our very helpful bank manager spent a great deal of time googling & calling every possible name, number, address, etc. We are concerned about whoever did this had access to his name, address, and social security number.
