Signed up at DMV.us.org to look up my personal dmv records and after filling all the information it stated there will need to be a $1.00 charge for records etc… for pulling which I agreed and paid the $1.00 with a credit card. The actual charge was $18.95 with no warning or disclaimer that you are signing up for a monthly service. Instead of being charged $1.00 as advertised I was charged with 18.95 and when I brought up to online support they had told me that I had signed up for monthly and didn’t offer me any solutions. A short google search had told me they do this often and promise refunds that they don’t

This site poses as the DMV site for obtaining a copy of your driving record online. It charges a $1.00 fee. They then immediately begin texting you to check on how you liked the report. When you complain they send you another form to fill out and take to the local DMV. Money was lost but now they have your phone, name, and CC information.

I was trying to get a recent driving report for myself as part of a job application process and found a site that claimed it would produce such a report and had an official looking url – dmv.us.org. The site asked for my name and address and continued with several search/status bars that looked like it was retrieving information for the report. Once it had finished searching, I was informed that the report would cost $1. I thought what the heck, it’s only $1 and provided a credit card number. The report I received had no information on me but had several sections with names similar to mine and supposed crimes that had occurred in my neighborhood. I realized it was a scam when I saw that Amanda Bynes (the actress) supposedly committed a hit and run in my community. I quickly checked my credit card statement online and found that they had charged me for $18.95 – not $1 – which I disputed immediately. I called their customer support number and asked why they tried to charge me $18.95 and was told by a representative named Tia that it was stated several times on the website that the $1 was a down payment for discounted frequent user subscription. This is not true – the site never disclosed this information! I then went online and found several similar complaints registered through various scam alert sites. These guys are not legitimate and are deceptive and misleading at a minimum, if not committing outright fraud. Someone needs to shut them down permanently.

I went to the website thinking it was a government site to get info on my driving record. I went through the process to while it showed info was downloading. I was asked for credit card info because of $1.00 fee. When info was finally supposedly processed I got the message I could not get report and needed to write a written request. I then went to online support live agent and asked about refund. I called my credit card company and they said there was a reversal for $1.00 and also for a fee (not in the info for charges) $18.95. Then I realized this could be a scam. I called the number on the website and spoke w/Tricia who said it would be credited. I expressed concerns re: my info. I have cancelled my credit card. I called the local police to ask advice re: scams. I will notify my bank just in case there was an opportunity to access info on my computer since there was a question re: what type of device I was using.
