Total money lost $2,120

Type of a scam Government Grant

I was contacted by Kathleen at the Federal Grants Program and told that I qualify to receive $9,000 in Federal Government Grants. I was told to purchase $200 in iTunes cards and scratch the back off the back of the cards and I gave those numbers to Kathleen. After speaking with Kathleen I was transferred to the Federal Reserve and spoke to Mark a branch manager. Mark told me his fee was $450 in iTunes cards as well but I don’t remember the service I paid for. I was told a little later that I would owe Mark another $620 iTunes cards for Missouri State Clearance Fee the income tax on $10,270. Each time I paid a fee I was told I would be reimbursed for the amount but to get the grant I’d have to pay the fees in advance. My file was transferred to a Peter Adams and Kenneth Edwards and I lost another $850 in iTunes cards with them. When it was finally time for the money to be transferred into my account I was told that my bank would not accept the transfer due to my credit. I called my bank and was informed they would not deny a wire transfer.

They called and said I was selected for a $9,400 grant. Then after collecting so basic info he asked how I would like to receive my grant, bank account, debit card, or western union? Well since I didn’t know anything about them I wasn’t giving them my banking/debit card info so I said western union. The man gave me a confirmation code and a number to call the "confirmation supervisor". When I called the number they said I would have to purchase a $250 Apple ITunes gift card to verify my identity, but that the $250 would be added on to my grant so I wouldn’t be losing any money. This sounded fishy to me so I told him I didn’t have the money to purchase a gift card because I was on disability and had a very tight/limited budget. He then gt very pushy asking me if I wanted the grant or not and if I needed he money so badly why couldn’t I borrow it and return it when I picked up my western union? I’m pretty sure this is a scam! Why would the federal government want me to buy an ITunes gift card?

I received a text message supposedly from my sister in Wisconsin. She told me she won a government grant and that I could win one too. She gave me a number to call. I called the number and the person I spoke to said his name was Rodgers Shawno. He had a foreign accent and asked how my mother-in-law was feeling. He said that if I would send $1000, I would be given a $50,000 grant. When I told him I didn’t have that kind of money, he said he would take $500. I didn’t give him any money, but I did send him my Indiana photo ID. Now he keeps texting me wanting the money. He said the offer was good until February 17, 2017.
