Letter received in mail from Free Lotto Consumer’s and Merchandise Reward Program Inc. Letter states you have been approved for lump sump payment of $450,000 and that money has been deposited into a Canadian Securities Firm. Enclosed is a check in the amount of $1495 that is made to appear to be from Switchcraft Inc. out of Chicago. While Switchcraft is a legitimate company in Chicago, they are not involved and did not issue check. The scammers want you to call them to initiate a claims process where they will instruct you to deposit the check and immediately send them money back to cover so called fees so you can receive the $450,000. Of course, the check is fake and will be returned by bank and victim is out the money they sent back to them. Fortunately, my elderly mother asked me and the BBB about this before calling the scammers and did not become of victim.
