Type of a scam Business Email Compromise
I was contacted by phone on 8/18/18 by David who identified himself as an employee of the the company that provides firewall protection for my computer. After checking with the company, Futureworld today, 8/21/18, they did not contact me. I was told by David on 8/18 that the server protecting my computer had been compromised and they would refund my money as well as check my computer. After giving them my bank information so they could transfer the refund, they told me an error had occurred and $9,000 had been transferred to my account instead of $900. They showed me a screenshot of my account with the transfer and gave me a bunch of transaction numbers. The man told me he would lose his job if the money wasn’t returned immediately, in cash, and that I should withdraw the money and UPS it to the address above in Minnesota. I did that.I was told I would be reimbursed for the $105 to UPS the money to them.
