Type of a scam Identity Theft
I was called by a local number. The man on the phone stated he worked for the government of Canada. I was told my social insurance number was stolen and 25 bank account were opened under my name in Montreal and that I was involved in a fraud case with the government of Canada and I may need to appear in court. I did not give any information. I was then asked for the phone number of my local police station. I then asked if you work for the government should you not have access to this information. I then said let me put you on hold and the man on the phone tried to keep me from placing the hold. I then hung up and called my local police station. I then received a second call form a different number from the same people. I then informed the man on the phone I have contacted police.
