Type of a scam Tax Collection
Reported on behalf of community members who have been contacted by phone but realized it was a scam. Caller informs the person that answers the phone that they owe a large amount of money (example $30,000) in unpaid taxes and threatens them with dire consequences if they do not pay. The person is directed to a location to make the payment. This scam has been reported to media but ,thus far, we only have heard from people who have realized it was a scam.
