Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
Responded to request for home staging contacted by cell phone messenger from business listing on Houzz.com. Sent staging contract. Scammer using name of Joana Zach and gave me a gmail account. Said she and husband were moving from London, the UK, to California and needed help with move in and staging and that they had infant daughter. Scammer sent fake check from a "financier" of 1000% overpayment. Check was sent USPS from Florida, with payee as corporation out of Kansas City, with bank in Kansas City even though they purported to live in UK. Scammer requested a copy of the deposit receipt and was very aggressive/impatient. I refused to deposit the overpayment and requested an address to return the check. I plan to report this to my bank asap as a fraudulent check.
