I received an email for an interview with a company for quality assurance specialist

Remote position!

I did actually look up the company online and in employment web reviews.

I did not find anything alarming so I began the onboard it process! I was HIRED and further given instructions to register on a site in order to get access to a control of panel for the data and label entry I would eventually be doing after I registered I did not get any other correspondence again! I was Hired and we did not understand what was happening! I sent countless emails but no one answered me back! Today I was looking online and decided to check the ScamPulse.com and here I found the dirty trail!

I consider myself highly intelligent and this still happened to me and countless others! If you think it cannot happen to you think again It can and it did!

Type of a scam Employment

It started in March 2020,

I got an email about a job for a quality inspector job involving receiving packages from vendors and then sending the packages out to customers or amazon after making sure the product was what it was suppose to be and not damaged in any way. For some reason, i didn’t even think to consider this being a scam and look into it, so I went forward with showing that I was interested and they messaged me back with more information and paperwork to fill out. There were 2 papers, one for my name, signature and date of me agreeing to be an employee and understandng that it was a self employment oportunity where i would do my own taxes involving the income i received. The other was for direct deposit information.

I filled both of these out, and since they didn’t request any sensative information like my soc number, i didn’t think twice about. (I suppose my desperation for a way to be with my family more and overall depressive nature left me vulnerable to lack of proper thought to double check). They have an emal, and a header with a phone number that i didn’t think to call. Once I finished all that they gave me the link to their website that i would use to see the packages coming to my home and contact that supervisor that i would be working closely with. I was to be on probation for 30 days to see how i did. I supposedly would get less packages at this time, where afterwords i would get 135 packages a month at 40 dollars per package. Seemed harmless itself, and i always enjoy making sure people are getting the correct item that is not damaged.

I signed up for the website, a few back and forth, finally got accepted in, and then started up. Took a week or so to get the first package. A lot of the items came straight from the manufacture or vendor like they said they would, and a few of the packages even got sent to an Amazon Facility. Nothing got sent out of the united states. It didn’t seem unusual except for when the original name on the package wasn’t who it got sent to once i got the new shipping label. I should have looked into it more then, but i suppose i was just trying really hard to believe it was for real.

There was one package that had the complete wrong description and multiple different labels from different people that was the most concerning package.

After my 30 days, I was told to ship that last packages i had on me so i could get my salary. I was asked if i wanted to continue our partnership and i was yes. Once i shipped the packages, they stopped contact. My supervisor wouldn’t contact me back after i left a few messages asking what was going on. After a week, and after i contacted their HR using the email they left, I was locked out of the control panel website they used, it said my username password was incorrect. After this, i looked into the company name, and it immediately showed up as a reshipping scam company. My heart immediately sank.

I have since contacted my bank and plan to contract the police to see if there is anything that i can do do rectify this issue. Nothing has been taken from my account yet and i’m not sure what else to look out for currently as i have never heard of reshipping scams before until now.
