This man called identifying himself as calling from Medicare, no name given. He asked if I had Medicare, then proceeded to ask ID questions which I refused to give. He said he was just trying to verify address so he could send out this cancer kit that required only a ‘spit test’. He asked if I had ever had cancer, to which I replied yes. He asked when I was diagnosed and I told him. He asked if I had any relatives who had had cancer and what kind. He asked if I’d ever had a DNA test and if I’d ever had done a spit test. I responded yes.

I told him again I would not give him any identifying information and if he was from Medicare, then he should have my information. Then he said, ok I can look it up for you. Ple[censored]d for a minute. I replied yes to each of these questions. Then he came back and asked if I was giving him permission to tell me what my DOB was, and I said Yes. Then he told me my address, city state and zip. He said again this is just for a cancer test to check my DNA to see if I have probability of cancer in my body now. I asked about the accuracy of the test. He said it would absolutely give me an answer as to whether there was cancer cells in my body. He again asked me to hold for 2 minutes. Then he came back to tell me he would connect me with the lab, who could answer my questions about the accuracy of the test and any other questions I had about the test itself.

I felt uneasy at the beginning, then wanted to see where the conversation went from there. Now I feel stupid for talking with him at all. There sounded like other people were talking, like a phone bank in a telemarketing office, or customer service office.

The number he called from was missing the last digit.

That’s about all I remember about the call. I’m not sure if scam, but could not find any information on Medicare’s website or searching by keyword.

I received a call from someone with a foreign accent saying I was eligible to receive more Medicare benefits, and he kept referring to me by my maden name not my married name. He asked me if I have had any recent problems with back, knee or elbow pain, which I do. He asked me

to verify my height, weight, and date of birth. I asked if he had my address which he did have. Then would it be alright to discuss the benefits with me. I said to send it to me by mail as it was on my file. He was very aggressive and very persistent in getting the information. I did end the

conversation with send anything to me by mail.
