Caller called to be Microsoft Tech Support saying my Windows 7 license was expired (windows licenses do not expire). He could not provide any info on my license or what version i was using so i knew it was a scam. They asked for $100 for one year license, or $250 for lifetime "membership". I did not pay and just hung up.

Type of a scam Tech Support

I was my checking my emails and a window popped up with audio that said I needed to call a Microsoft support tech immediately (a number was provided) or my computer would be automatically shut down. It kept repeating. I called the number and was connected with a technician (Or so I thought). She told me that viruses had been detected on my computer and that she needed to connect to it to erase them. She had me download Citrix Connect and proceeded to show me various programs that were infected. She explained the function of a firewall and said my problems were network-related. She also said koobface was running on my computer. She gave me a list of 6 things that she needed to do to "fix" my computer. Then she outlined 2 plans: a 5-year warranty for $689.99 or a 3-year warranty for $489.99. She showed me a Walmart website that indicated the same plans would be over $1500. This is when I called my husband and me advised me that it was a scam.
