Type of a scam Fake Invoice/Supplier Bill
received three Microsoft word documents with the password to open them in the same message. The message contained text that referred to my invoice and stated I must open the document in order to proceed with an account deposit. It was signed by Nathan. N. In order to open the documents with a password, a message alert informs you that you must first enable editing of the document. Note that each document included an ip prefix to each document title. In order to proceed with testing, I copied the word documents to my desktop then disconnected my internet connection. Upon opening the document, the notice to enable editing appeared. After enabling editing, I entered the password from a copy and paste of the one provided in the email message. After pasting the password in the document pop up form, all of the documents failed to open.
