Morningstar Spoof

I had the same type of Scam happen to me. They contacted me for the same position. This just happened yesterday and because I did more research on this and found this complaint, I caught it quicker. I did provide my name, address and e-mail. I have blocked all contact with these people and submitted the claim on BBB. I am a little freaked out about this but the job just seemed to be too good to be true.

Type of a scam Employment

Someone claiming to represent Morningstar reached out offering an interview for a work from home data entry position. Interview was held over Skype, through the chat feature. Claimed they would be sending paperwork that needed to be completed as well as shipping a laptop to complete work on. Sent an offer letter and W-4 form to be completed and signed. They collected my name, address, and signature. This was all done over the span of few days, on the third day of communication about the new job and training the person claiming to be "Sarah Abramczyk-Larkin" said that they needed a $100 iTunes gift card to purchase time sheet software and that it would be reimbursed after the first paycheck. This was a red flag and after closer examination found the offer letter to be phony. Called the real Morningstar company and confirmed this was not coming from them. They are using the names of real Morningstar employees.
