Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

They reached out through my student email to do secret shopping and would mail me my first assignment. They texted me, and I didn’t think to keep the number but blocked instead that the check should be arriving. Once I received the check and read the assignment to go and purchase postal money orders, I knew it was a scam and wanted to report it. Also, the return address was Chicago, IL and the mail came from Los Angeles, CA and the check had an address in VT. I told my kids that this was a scam and I was going to report it. I didn’t cash the check as I know that I’m not trying to mess up any of my accounts and my life. I see this happen all the time to people on TV.

they will try to get you to be a mystery shopper and send you a cashiers check which is fraud then get you to cash it and send the money or buy product and send to them (such as iTunes cards) and then you will be responsible for the check due to they want you to do the job before it can clear your acct
