Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

Received a Priorit Mail 2-Day envelope today. When I opened there was a Official Check in the amount of $2,850.00. There was also a letter with instructions to cash at my bank deduct $450 as my salary and to buy (6) $400 Kroger cards from Walmart and then continue with my evaluation with the store rep.

Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

National Shopping Service Network – A check was issued to me for the amount of $1,820. I was to deposit the check at my bank and wait 24-48 hours for the check to clear. I was to then go to the nearest or any Wal-Mart (no store # listed) and purchase 3 Wal-Mart gift cards for $500 each. My balance was to be $320. I was to pocket $300. With the remaining $20 I was to go to my bank and have a cashier’s check issued to Wal Mart for $10. I have no idea what I was to do with the other extra $10. First clue this was a fraud was their accounting did not add up. Second, the was no business name printed on the check. The check was issued out of TCF National Bank *** *** *** ** *** ***  which I believe is a real bank but doubt this account # exists: *** ***. Third, the mailing came from an address: *** Meredith, *** * *** **, Columbia, MO. which is listed as a professional office space. The text I received came from an volp line most likely overseas but I also was given another US number to send a followup text to in Reno, NV. (***). "You will use the gift cards to purchase some merchandise for your second assignment." The letter was signed Patricia ***,Survey Evaluation "Coordinator." The assessment form was on the back of the letter with no instructions on where to send the evaluative information. It was a very short form to fill out for a nice payment of $300. The pay for the amount of work involved was too good to be true. I refused to accept my first shopping assignment as what I was asked to do just did not add up.
