It began with receipt of an email from a Mrs. Anna Best (email address = [email protected]) offering employment as a "secret shopper".

The recipient replied as requested with name, address, phone number and email address.

In response to the recipient’s reply, and email was received from a Jonathan Daniel (email address = [email protected]) The "To" email was not that of the recipient, rather it was addressed to [email protected]

A USPS Prioity Mail envelope was received from Dot Lloyd, 3825 20th Avenue SE, Naples, FL 34117. Contents were a set of instructions and a cashiers check for $2,875.00 drawn on First Tech Federal Credit Union in Beaverton OR.

The instructions indicated the recipient was to:

a) Deposit the cashiers check into the recipient’s account

b) When the cashiers check is deposited send a copy of the deposit receipt to Jonathan Daniel at [email protected]

c) Go to a local Walmart and send a MoneyGram in the amount of $2495 to Lucky Tory in Istanbul, Turkey, postal code 3400. MoneyGram cost would be $30. Note: If asked if you are a mystery shopper reply "No". If asked if you know the recipient of the MoneyGram, reply "Yes".

d) Complete the store evaluation, then email the evaluation and a copy of the MoneyGram receipt to Jonathan Daniel at [email protected]com. An additional email address and phone number appear at the bottom of the page: [email protected] 612-231-1334-SMS

03-23-2017 an email was received from [email protected] inquiring if the assignment was received. The email was addressed to [email protected], not the recipient’s email address. Recipient did not reply.

03-23-2017 an email was received from [email protected] inquiring if the deposit had been made. The email was addressed to [email protected], not the recipient’s email address. Recipient did not reply.

03-23-2017 Recipient researched Dot Lloyd in Naples FL. 2 people with this name exist, ages 70 and 72. Recipient also called the First Tech Federal Credit Union in Beaverton OR and was told the cashiers check was not legitimate.

03-24-2017 an email was received from [email protected] inquiring if the deposit had been made. The email was addressed to [email protected], not the recipient’s email address. Recipient did not reply.
