Type of a scam COVID-19

I received a call from a recording claiming to be part of "contact and tracing efforts" (to make it sound like I’d been exposed to someone who tested positive for COVID-19)

They asked me to verify personal information, including my date of birth and financial information and I ended the call.

Type of a scam Family/Friend Emergency

The scammer called my dad and claimed that "a complaint has been filed against your daughter". They gave him a phone number and a case number and told him that I needed to call within two hours.

The phone number they gave him is 888-816-9654

The case number is AK2720

He was concerned and called me. I told him that it was a scam.

Recording offering to clear student loans. Recording said to select "2" to speak to someone. I selected "2" and a foreigner answered, as soon as I started to say this was a business number and to place the number on the "do not call" list the female hung up. I think they are trained to disconnect, before you can finish saying "do not call".

Simply asked "may I speak to the head of the household?" and in a moment of lack of judgment I replied "yes…"

Then the scammer hung up.

Received computer-generated phone call today stating that "We received information that you or someone you know are interested in receiving information about pain relief. Would you like to receive that information? I responded, "How did you get this number?" The question was repeated. I responded with an inquisitive, "Okay???" The "voice" on the call then said, "Thank you" and hung up. The call appeared to come from a cloned phone number (303) 725-3011 because when I called back a message came on stating "Not accepting calls at this time. Please call again later."

After answering the phone, a prerecorded message started by stating that I am in danger of having legal action taken against me and that I would be transferred to someone to start the process to get resolve the situation. It also stated that whether I talk to the individual or not, by answering the phone I am legally bound as having acknowledged receipt of this legal action against me. After hanging up, I documented the phone number and called the number back in hopes of acquiring a name or contact information, but it went straight to voicemail. No business name or contact information was provided during the recorded message and I hung up before the recording began.

I was called and was left a message stating I was going to be arrested if I didn’t take care of the bill. I took it to the Sheriff and was told I wasn’t going to be arrested and advised it was a scam trying to get money out of good people.

I recieved a call from the 3 numbers i have provided. They called me attempting to sell me extended warranty services on my car. I believe they spoofed the caller I.D. With the phone numbers i have provided to conceal their true identity. They have called me several times a week for several weeks. When i call the number back the actual owner of that phone number answers and says that they did not call me and i must have the wrong number. I recommend ignoring these fradulant calls all together. They also attempt to obtain personal information such as your name, zip code, and the vehicles that you drive.

I keep getting calls from this number: (262) 922-8008.

They keep trying to tell me they want to get me car insurance and life insurance if I’m Interested. They knew my name, address, phone, they wanted to know what insurance I already have, they wanted to know my height, weight, hair color, etc. After I asked what is this call for she answered so quickly I could barely hear her, then continued to ask me personal questions that don’t pertain to car insurance. Its a scam. I think they just want to get yes answers from me.

Type of a scam Credit Cards

Received the first phone call on 12/1/2016 at 3:49pm from 574-601-5263. The person identified himself as Rob Marchal, from company that works with 5 credit cards lenders WellsFargo, Capital One, Chase etc. advising that they can lower interest rate on credit card. As soon as he started asking for the card number information I advised that I was no longer comfortable with the conversation and I ended the call. He immediately called back from 319-225-2267 yelling at me asking why I hung up on him and to give him a chance. I again advised that I was not interested, I did not wish to receive any further calls from this company and that I was contacting my credit card company. He swore at me and hung up.

Type of a scam Government Grant

I could not get any further information besides a Washington State call and number of *** and a man was on the other line and knew my name. He claimed I won a $7,000 federal grant yet couldn’t provide me any further information in order to legitimize his claim. I promptly told this man that I believe he is running a scam and that I would report him to the ScamPulse.com. I hope what little information I was able to provide to the ScamPulse.com will help the organization warn others.
