Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I was selling a Nintendo 2DS for 130$ (including a game $130 separate). A person contacted me asking if it was still for sale. I said yes. They said the price was fine and then asked if a cashier’s check was okay. I at the time wasn’t aware what those were. I said yes and gave them my name and address so they could mail it to me. I researched cashier checks and found out that those were a potential scam. The buyer said I would receive the payment in excess and then I would have to send the remaining money along with the person’s mover when they came to pick up my 2DS. And to add to the suspicious behavior, the scammer asked me to delete the ad and consider it sold. I received about 2 days later a FedEx package that was a priority overnight shipping. Inside was a check that had a mismatching address along with $1250 credited to me. Strangely a simple check was included and not a cashier check. I read that this was probably a Fake Check/Money Order scam. It matched the exact conditions and behavior of how it was played out. I decided to not do anything with the check and just report it.
