Type of a scam Government Grant
I received a calls over the last two days claiming I was entitled to federal grant money the first for $7k the second for $8k because of good credit, no bankruptcies, and paid taxes on time. They stated they were with the U.S. Government grant divisions. I asked them if they were an employee with the United States of America (Federal Employee) and they assured me they were. After they went through my personal address information they began their confirmation process asking my age (which was not revealed) and that to receive the grant monies they could either send it by Western Union or on a CVS, Walmart, or Walgreens gift card. I told them to send a check to the address they have listed for me and they said that is not one of the options. She said in order to collect the monies I must call 202-681-3254, talk to her supervisor who would authorize the payment upon giving them a code number they provided me. She further stated that I had to call her supervisor immediately and there was no need to contact federal or state agencies since she was a United States government employee. I explained to her that I was a State’s Attorney and would be contacting the Texas Attorney General’s Office. I did not call the number provided so am unsure if they were wanting monies to secure anything.
