Type of a scam Tech Support

On August 27, 2018, I called 1-877-353-1149, Microsoft Support from the pngage https://microsoftofficehelp.com/microsoft-help-desk-number/. I believed I was calling the real Microsoft! I was put on hold for too long, so I hung up. Two minutes later I received a call asking me "How can we help…" A male with an East Indian accent was the caller. The number he called from is 951-744-0175, he identified himself as Sam Rogers. I was attempting to arrange for a refund of $134 for a Microsoft tech support service I no longer wanted but had been charged for.

This fellow had all the correct things to say as if he was a Microsoft professional. He convinced me that Microsoft no longer refunded money by reversing charges. He told me to buy an Apple iTunes card for $100 and call him back, at which time he would set up an account for me and transfer my refund of $134 to the gift card and then I could transfer the entire balance of $234 into my bank account. After I purchased the card and called him back, he asked me for the number on the gift card and said he would call me back after finalizing the transfer of funds. Of course, he did not call me back and I realized I had been scammed.

I questioned him all along the way because this sounded so strange to me. But he was very slick and sounded very legitimate!
