I purchased a $450 "The Perfect Gift" Visa gift card from the Safeway on Marion Street in Wpg on Dec 13/2019 for a staff function. The card was activated by a clerk, however when we went to use the card it wasn’t active. When we went online, to activate the card, the "message" comes up that this card is not found. When I called the phone # on the back of the card 1-855-279-3206 there is just "dead air". When I go on the website @the perfectgift.ca, the contact # is 1-855-279-3206, again there is just "dead air". There is a lengthy agreement included in the gift card package – when I call the number in this document 1-866-466-8082, I was told by several levels that that they "do not handle this card" they are just a call centre and this visa gift card # does not exist in their system, so they are very sorry but they are unable to assist. I was told to go back to the merchant. The packaging was intact on purchase (no perforations were broken – both the clerk and I examined it quite closely; that being said, we had purchased the same gift for another event earlier at the same time, which was fine, but the cards were clearly different. I am trying to determine how to recoup the company’s funds, and am getting very frustrated as nobody seems to want to own the product, yet someone was very willing to accept my money.
