Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I received a check presumably from Walmart.com asking to become a secret shopper. They sent a check for $1893,25 asking me to deposit it, keep $350.00 for myself. Withdraw the rest and once the money was in hand, generate the jobs on their website. Even without "money in hand" I generated the "job" to see what it would be, and they were asking you to send money via Walmart to Walmart transfer and Western Union. Of course the check was fake and thankfully no funds were lost, but felt it was important to report this.

Received a check for $1,997.12 which I was to deposit into my account and then go online for work assignment with the Gap, Wal-Mart and pizza hut. All products that I purchase with the money will be for me to keep since working as a "consumer service evaluator". There was no contact number on Info I received just email and web address. I immediately located similar stories on the BBB site and realized this is a scam and tore check up!!!

I received a letter with a check for 1,998.57 stating that Walmart the Gap, Pizza Hut pay to shop in their establishment and report the experience. First you get to deposit this check and take the first 350.00 then you complete the 2nd and third assignment you get paid.

Submitted a check looking like a Walmart payroll check in the amount of $1993.75. Letter states you must sign in to their site and then it gives instructions for the check activation doing it on line and then deposit the check into your own bank account and after funds have cleared and are available to start work. The envelope had no return address and postmarked in Madrid. I’ve scanned the letter but have the envelope & check as well as the letter. I did not lose any money on this as after reading and reviewing I could tell it was a fraud. The letterhead appears to be a copy of Walmart’s correspondence and there are misspelled words. The website has no home page – just a place to sign in and type in a code. (There is no such thing as a free lunch).
