Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
I received a USPS Priority Mail envelope. It contained instructions along with a ‘fake’ cashier’s check in the amount of $2300.00. I was to deposit the check in my personal account then purchase four iTunes gift cards in the amount of $500 each (total $2000). The remaining $300 was my payment for completing the transaction/survey. I am certain that the check would bounce and I would be scammed out of $2000 paid for the iTunes gift cards.
Initial contact was through a connection on LinkedIn.
