Type of a scam Online Purchase
I listed an oak workbench for $500, value of $700 on Craigslist. Rec’d an offer for $500, plus willing to pay extra $50 for me to hold it till money arrived and a shipper would come pick it up. Goes by Mark Allen Smith, first ph # is 219 318 1400. After a few texts I called him, and explained I wasn’t taking extra money to pay a shipper. Told him this was a scam and we were done doing business. I hug up. Next morning I rec’d a text stating his ph had died, and to now use the second ph #. I have never replied to the second number. I rec’d the priority envelope in the mail on 9-8-18. I have not opened it, as will wait for a reply from you, or my local police or county sheriffs department on how to proceed. Tracking is 9405 5126 9935 0099 3952 36. First phone text states; "there will be an additional amount because the movers fee will be included and after deducting your fee with extra $50 for you for holding the item for me, the difference goes to my movers so pickup can be done..my name is Mark,. Thanks. 9-6-18 at 5:35 pm. Today’s message 9-18-18; ck has been delivered, pls kindly pick it up and proceed to deposit as soon as possible via the ATM, mobile deposit or the bank and cash out the remaining fund after deducting your own money, let me know when you have the remaining cash at hand so i can give you instruction on what to do next.
