Type of a scam Sweepstakes/Lottery/Prizes
Consumer received a call in regards to a previous purchase or survey. She would be receiving a gift certificate to Target, Walmart or Best Buy. Caller asked her for her address, marital status, date of birth, postal address at that point they advised her that she had won 2 $100 gift certificates. She would need to pay for shipping and handling buy using her CC, consumer gave her CC info and caller verified info back. They advised that the gift certificates would be sent to her within the next 5 business days. At that point the caller advised her that she would be receiving a promotional product. The consumer and asked if that promotion was something that she later then had to call and opt out of prior to getting charged again. The caller said "Yes." Consumer stated that she declined it all and asked to cancel. At that point the caller stated he was sorry and couldn’t help her and hung up the call.
