I received this email about a job offer. I never applied for a job at that company. The website is poorly developed with links that don’t work. He only wanted to message me on google hangout for the interview, which I questioned him about. He wanted to know my name, gender and location first. Then he told me about the company and the job. Then he asks me for my address, phone, and email. Once I gave that info to him he stopped communicating with me for an hour and now he finally messaged me and now says I have the job and wants my financial info.

EMAIL I RECEIVED:

Congratulations!

I was contacted via text about a work from home opportunity. I responded and was contacted through google hangouts and received a job description. The English was very broken, and I was told they would give me a check/deposit, etc to purchase the software and supplies needed to start my home office. I then received a check from FedEx the next morning. The bank looks legitimate East West Bank out of Pasadena, CA. Also, the return address on the envelope is from Citgo Petroleum. I’m just really skeptical so I wanted to find out everything before I proceeded.
