Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I got a message on OMP telling me to email this guy about a paid photoshoot, so I did. He responded saying with details of a weekend long photoshoot that I would get $1200 for. It seemed legit until they sent me another email saying they would send me a check in the mail that I had to deposit in my bank account immediatey and then take $400 out and send it to a stylist via western union.

Company used the name "Ryan Reed" in "Projects". Emailed and solicitation pretending to be a modeling company trying to hire a model. Would be "in the subject’s area" for a high profile designer who was opening a new line of clothing in the US and that it could not be advertised. Email was as follows:

We went through your portfolio and have decided to consider you to be a model for the upcoming special fashion shoot of Ole YDE’s 2019 Spring collection launch in the US; no nudity, fetish, bondage, escort and other adult content stuff. The shoot would be held at a studio or hotel close to your location, the shoot would be 2 hours daily, we would be responsible for your transport and feeding throughout the photo shoot. You have the opportunity to come with a family or friend, we would handle his/her expenses along with yours, just for you to feel comfortable throughout the shoot.

JOB DETAILS:

The shoot is scheduled for April 7th and 8th 2018. Outfits would be provided by Ole and put together by a US based wardrobe stylist on the day of the shoot and photographed by a well seasoned photographer.

The shoot is just for 2 days and you would be paid $1200 for the whole project, the Job is Urgent so you are to get back to us as soon as possible so that we can arrange on how to get you the part payment, meet the stylists and other crew members. You would be paid the initial payment of $400 to guarantee your participation in the shoot, as part of our working policy and ethics of our company, we give part payment to any client before we proceed with any job and balance immediately after the work. As I told you earlier this project is very urgent, we would be taking care of your payment, accommodation and other expenses. The part payment would be mailed directly to you along side with the wardrobe stylist allowance, funds for fashion accessories for the shoot. Exact Location and time would be made known to you soon, this is to ensure that we pick a convenient time and place for the shoot.

NOTE: As soon as you get the payment, you would deduct $400 and send the remaining balance to the wardrobe stylist. The wardrobe stylist will contact you as soon as she receives all your information from us, if you are interested kindly get back to us with your details as follows:"

It continued as a classic money order/check scam request, and reminded the target not to discuss the shoot with anyone.

Subject pretended to be a modeling media company and hire a model. They sent a pre payment check so that the model would be sure to follow through and ask her to forward the rest to the stylist ." the shoot was in your area". please deposit check and forward the extra. take out you portion. sent to the name of the stylist assistant by money order. Check had company name that was their sponcer. The check number doesn’t match the extended number on the bottom of the check. one way to tell is fraud as well as the forwarding money to someone else by money order. The scam appeared on a real website but did all the communications through personal email.  Check had Classic Homes on it.
