Type of a scam Romance
The scammers contacted the victim via social media & quickly established a romantic relationship. They soon started asking for money to be sent to Nigeria so the person, supposedly a US Citizen doing missions work there with a small child, could get back to the US. They plan to get married & live happily ever after. However, the victim continues to keep sending funds & the scammer continues to have ever excuse in the book why they cannot board a plane to the US. Such as hospitalization, transportation, basic travel allowance needed to board plane (US Embassy confirms BTA is not a requirement), etc. The victim is in a terrible financial position due to all the money they have sent to Nigeria……
