Type of a scam Fake Invoice/Supplier Bill

I received an invoice from this company for 2 toner cartridges. I did not order these, nor did my toner supplier. The invoice correctly identified the maker of my printer (but not the model number) and my business phone number. When I called to inquire, there was only a voicemail seeking my name (which I did not provide), my business’s name (which I did not provide), my phone number (which I did not provide) and the invoice number (which I recited).

Someone from "Global Supply Center" called our company last week asking for the model number of our printer because their "system was down". I answered the question and he thanked me and quickly hung up. I later realized it was a bizarre call because our printers are all leased from a local company (this phone call was from out of the area) and they all have ID#s assigned to them. This week we received an invoice for 2 toners for our specific printer model, priced OUTRAGEOUSLY ($498 each) plus shipping & handling. The total invoice was for over $1,000 and had my name listed as the contact (because I used my name when I answered the phone). I didn’t order any toner and all of our toner is provided by our leasing company so I immediately knew it was a scam. I called our leasing company to confirm and then attempted to call the phone number on the invoice. The voicemail picked up, didn’t indicate a company name, sounded like just a guy on his cell phone, and claimed it was the "customer service center". I was asked to leave my name, company name, and an invoice number if I had one. I did not leave any message.

This guy is a scammer!

Our law firm received an invoice for 2 Toner Ricoh Aficio MP, priced at $498 each plus $67.47 for shipping and handling. I called the phone number on the invoice and got the voice mail of "customer service center". I googled the phone number on the invoice 323-395-4669 and according to bbb.org "deceptive telemarketing office supple sales" and another site listed the number as "potential Spam or Fraud". We did not order this as we are getting a new copier. Scammer had correct address, contact person and phone number for our law firm.
