Type of a scam Home Improvement

A man came by today 10/17/2017 to her home in Twin Falls, Idaho. He wouldn’t give his name, but said that his dad’s name is Justin Reynolds, from Five Star. I assumed it was a roofing company. I asked him for his name again, but man skipped over my question.

He said previous I had a roof repair/seal 8 years ago that was prepaid for $4500. Part of contract was to have resealed in 8 years. He said all I had to do was pay for the materials but if I decide not to have it resealed then I had to pay $85.00 to cancel the contract. I have never had my roof sealed in the first place. My father who has since passed away may have, but I don’t have any information on it. I think this is a scam. I don’t have the internet so I tried to look up the business in the phone book and couldn’t find anything.

He said he had a business card that he could give to me, but didn’t give me anything. I went to get a piece of paper and pen to write down the information to make sure it wasn’t a scam. He told me that “somebody” paid for it 8 years ago. I told him that I was going to call my nephew who lives next door to see if he knew anything about a previous roofing job. When I came back to the door, he was pulling away in his car.
