Type of a scam Tech Support
A message popped up on my Mac and it told me that Chrome was compromised and that I could not shut down my computer otherwise there would be a loss of information. The message had the Mac byline with a number to call. That was the number I called and the man had me read the message to him. He told me to hold for a technician. The technician came on the phone. After talking about the problem she told me that my warranty had run out and she needed to know if I was going to allow them to see if my computer had been compromised and hacked by others. I told her I did not feel comfortable having this conversation anymore and I hung up. Later I got into Apple support chatroom to find that this is a problem and that the message nor the technicians are sanctioned by Apple.
