Type of a scam Healthcare/Medicaid/Medicare
My 93 year old mother-in-law received a call a few weeks ago from a female who told her "Congratulations! I’m calling from Medicare and I have a gift for you." She then manipulated this trusting elderly lady into revealing her Social Security number and Medicare number "just to make sure we are sending it to the right person." Of course, when the family found out, we immediately called Medicare to report this as Fraud. We also called her doctors who said they did not order any equipment for her. A week later, a box arrived from "Natioanl (their spelling) Orthotics, 4828 Route 309 Rear, Schnecksville, PA 18078. We immediately contacted Medicare Fraud, who instructed us to return it via USPS. They stated they had already received a bill from this scammer and would put a hold on payment and investigate further. My mother-in-law has had to go twice to her doctor since this began, as she is terrified that she gave someone her information who was not who they said they were. The address on the box is for Kern Construction, Inc. The phone # is (407) 362-7890-this is an Orlando Florida Area Code.
