Type of a scam Charity
They wanted me to donate to the New England Sheriffs Association to support fallen officers. They wanted to verify my name, address, phone number, and how much of a contribution I would commit to but instead of asking me for my credit card, they said they would send me an envelope. The initial caller passed me on to a verifying manager. I can’t find the New England Sheriffs Association on the internet or in the library reference book of associations and I am concerned that they were trying to record me saying "YES" to use it for other scams.
