Type of a scam Identity Theft
I received an email from a close friend inviting me to join a “free private online network called Nextdoor Quail Creek. It claims to be 100% free and private – just for our neighbors. The website was to “share service provider recommendations, items for sale/free, lost pest notifications, safety updates, local events, and much more. I joined the network using the code provided. I had second thoughts shortly after joining and tried to unsubscribe from the network. I could not unsubscribe as every attempt asked for an email address for the network and none of the emails that I got from the network were accepted to unsubscribe. I believe that this network is a scam because I have now found out that my name has been used by the network in letters addressed and sent to all of the people in my neighbor and beyond inviting them to join this network. I believe that using my name without my permission is an invasion of my privacy and possible an attempt to steal my identity and the identity of others.
