Total money lost $700

Type of a scam Government Grant

I was contacted by an individual who claimed to be from the federal government, claiming the name was the NIH Department, which I found out later stands for "National Institutes of Health". I was initially contacted by phone by this individual and was told that I was eligible for some free money. However, I needed to buy iTunes giftcards and send it off to them in order to get my money. I had to buy 5 iTunes giftcards for a total of $700 and sent it to them. I was then told by them that I needed to send them 5 more in order to be eligible. This is when I realized that I had probably been scammed. I went back to Walmart where I bought the giftcards from but was told that since I had already sent them the cards, I was unable to get a refund for them. Unfortunately I was scammed out of some money
