Attempted to activate my ROKU device from my smart phone – when I typed the web address into google search it pulled up the site "https://rokcomlink.site/" noted above which looks IDENTICAL to the actual ROKU activation site (see attached image Screen 1). When I entered the information and hit "submit" an error message came up that said the code is not activated due to a "networking" problem and you need to call the number below. It also warned NOT to reenter the code again as it may "crash your device" (see attached image Screen 2). When I called the number, I was told the activation code which was provided to me was incorrect and they would assist in setting up my ROKU. They advised I had a choice of a 5-year membership for $89.00 or lifetime membership for $120.00 – which I selected. I asked why I was being charged as I thought ROKU activation was "free", but the representative told me that there is a "membership" fee. As I wanted to get my ROKU device activated ASAP, I provided my credit card information, home address, email address and phone number and they set up a ROKU account for me, provided the login information and activated my ROKU device. Within a couple minutes my ROKU was activated. All seemed reasonable until I actually logged into my ROKU account from my computer and there the website had a warning to "beware of scams" as there is NEVER a charge to activate your ROKU device. At that point I knew I as duped.
