Tries to collect unpaid debt in an unprofessional and predetory kind of way. Company threatens litigation well outside of the statute of limitations granted by the fair credit reporting act and will not correspond in any other matter than by telephone.

I received a call telling me that I owe monies from 2004/2005 and that if I did not pay today (double amount they said the original debt amount was) then they would file a judgment for 4x the amount they are requesting. I got them to give me a Company name after a "manager" was put on the phone to bully me into believing that I owed the debt. I do not know if the debt is valid from that long ago and told him so. I did have an old credit card debt with that Bank and I believe I paid off the negotiated amount with a tax return, but it was approximately 10 years ago and no longer have information that info on file. In addition, my credit report shows that account as "closed".
I asked them for a Tax ID Number or something in writing to prove their "legitimacy" and the "manager" said they would not waste their time proving that information to me and that he’s just moving it to "judgment" and hung up on me.
I also looked this company up on Google, and found they they have scammed (or attempted to scam) others. The scariest part is that they have my social security number and names of my family members who have never resided with me. I don’t know how they got this information. Now I’m extremely concerned.

I told them I would have to call back because I don’t have a credit card on me to pay them. After looking up the Company on Google, I found out that they have scammed (or attempted to scam) others. The scariest part is that they have my home address and social security number. I don’t know how they got this information. Now I’m extremely concerned.
