Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
Scammer contacted me by text message about finding my resume on Indeed.com and offered a job for a personal assistant. We spoke after via email. Said his name was David Wagner and offered a 3 week payment of $650 / weekly. Asked for name my name, address, email & phone number. A check was then sent to me as a first week payment for beginning the job. After receiving the check I noticed things that were strange on the package and the check. “David” said he worked in Dallas, but lived in California. However, the package was sent from a Rue21 store in Statesville, NC. The check was for $3,750.00 and not $650. The company listed on the check was also an Arkansas business with an Arkansas bank listed.
