On March 2, 2019, my 93-year-old mother received a letter and a contribution request form from U. S. English, Inc. regarding their project "Benefit Protection Alliance", a CONSTITUENT PETITION to be sent to U.S. Representative (6th District- Kentucky) Andy Barr opposing any proposals brought before the 115th Congress that would negatively impact the payment of her full social security and Medicare benefits.
The letter says my Mother MUST SIGN AND IMMEDIATELY RETURN THIS PETITION TO ENSURE FULL PAYMENT OF SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS! There is also a "PETITION ENDORSEMENT AND RELEASE" which requests that she make a contribution by sending them a check or providing them with her credit card information to support this "CAMPAIGN TO PROTECT SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS." I want to know if these methods of preying on seniors and trying to extract funds from them through scare tactics is legal. I advised my Mother not to send a check or give out her credit card information.
