Type of a scam Tech Support

Thursday seemed like any other afternoon. I was lying in bed interneting the day away on my iPhone, when SUDDENLY! a pop-up appeared. This pop-up looked just like an iOS software alert and stated that "iOS has detected a virus on your iPhone. Please call 888-258-5097 to fix the problem". This "alert" wouldn’t go away and locked up my safari browser.

Stupidly, I called.

A man with an Indian accent answered the phone. This seemed normal. I told him the problem and was put on hold while "easy listenin’" music molested my auditory organs. Again, this seemed normal. He resumed the phone call and told me that it was an easy problem to fix and that a payment of $49.99 must be handed over in full. I quickly agreed because all I wanted to do was internet my face off. I am not a patient individual.

That is where the mistake was made. I gave him my credit card information >:(

As soon as I got off the phone I looked up the phone number, which led me to multiple websites talking about iOS scams. So now here I am, writing a description about this dishonest and disgusting scam.
