Total money lost $299

Type of a scam Other

Last May 18, 2015 I was looking for a US gov website to help me file my change of status to resident when I was directed by google to usimmigration.gov I was then told to pay $299 before accessing any information. Later that day I realized the correct site was USCIS.gov and all information were free and payments are made in check to US Dept of Homeland Security. I then called the merchant to give me a refund but they refused to so I closed my account and filed a fraud report to Chase. After 3 months I was still not refunded for the reason that it’s a lost case. The merchant explained that the moment I signed my info on their site that was the service worth $299 that I got from them. Their website looks so legit that any would be immigrant would be fooled to pay not knowing any better
