Type of a scam Tech Support

In early April, we were on the computer when a popup appeared informing us the computer was ready to crash. It had a phone number to call-855-398-7888. When calling we talked to a man named Victor who stated he worked for Windows. He stated there were hackers from Nigeria who had gotton into our computer and were stealing information. He stated he could fix the problem for a price $249.00 plus tax=total $269. We aked him about Microsoft and he stated Microsoft has stopped protecting and we told him to fix the problem. After about a hour, he called back and stated the problem was fixed. We paid him by check because that is what he requested. Then in May he called back and stated only internal security was protected. That our emails and everything external was not protected and for $200 he could protect that. We then became suspicious and didn’t pay him. We then took the computer to a specialist who removed all fake viruses and malware he put on by Webtechnoorg and were informed this was a total scam. This company started in January, 2016, has a phone number from New Jersey 1-732-592-1022.
