I have received numerous call in the past several days regarding a warning that someone is hacking our computer. They profess that they are the Windows department that has the program capable of discovering the hackers before they strike and use information contained in our computer. They claim they do not charge for their services. They encouraged me to access my computer so they could guide me in preventing this hacker activity. I do not feel they are illegitimate and hang up on them. This morning the same man called back and wanted to know why I hung up on him.

Call received from "Windows" claiming my computer was sending them messages regarding a virus and spyware. When I said I didn’t think there was a problem like this, and I asked if there was a number I could call back at, the person hung up.

I received a call from a restricted number, when I answer there is a long pause then someone with a heavy accent tells me they are from Windows and that there are errors on my computer that need to be corrected.
