Type of a scam Rental
My roommate and I applied to rent his property in good faith based on his listing on Craig’s List quoting $950/month and his verbal confirmation of that price in person on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at our appointment at 10:00am. We expressed our definite interest in renting the property, and immediately filled out the application online as requested based on the listed and confirmed rent of $950.
My roommate spent $40 to apply and I ended up spending $50 to apply.
Sunday, September 10, 2017 Mr. Freeman sent a message asking if we would agree to $1350 for rent. When I replied that I expected him to stand by the original listed price, he replied that nothing was confirmed and changed the price in his COZY listing online. I believe this is considered fraud, and possibly housing discrimination.
Fortunately I have a screen shot of his original listing of $950. And can supply a copy of his e-mail on request.
