Type of a scam Employment

I was contacted by MS Wilson about a job opportunity. She told me about the company and the job position. The company was based in India (I did research the company, they are a real company). She then asked me to answer a few questions. After I answered the questions, I was told that I had been accepted for the position. She then told me she would send a check so I could purchase a computer and the software, but I had to purchase it from a specific location. A few days later, I received an email stating that the package was sent. I received a USPS Priority Mail express Envelope with no return address, just a stamp saying Newark, NJ. When I opened the package, it was a regular prudential check for over $3,000 and it was from Georgia. This raised a red flag. Shortly after I received another email asking me to cash the check and send them a photo of the deposit slip. This is when I knew it was definitely a scam. I am not receiving phone calls from a Dallas, TX number and text messages asking if I received the package. I have not responded. The last text message stated that they knew I had the package and if I did not respond then legal action would be taken.
