Type of a scam Credit Cards
I received a postal mail solicitation from Western Union regarding a prequalification for a NetSpend Pre-paid MasterCard along with a direct deposit form. On WU NetSpend’s website, it states, "in order to receive the card you must fill out an application." I never completed an application nor did I indicate an interest in their services. The first card I received displayed my name & included a letter with more details about the card. The second card I received displayed my daughter’s name (who happens to be a minor). Both cards had a MasterCard logo & resemble an actual credit card. I called 1-800-214-5483 which is the customer service number to activate the card. I was informed that in order to remove our names & mailing address from their system, I would have to give them the name on the card & card number. I refused since I wasn’t sure if they would activate the cards without my permission. I think it’s a scam.
